Why Dehydrate?

Save food, save money, save time and save space.

Dehydration is Quick, Easy and Sustainable

Food dehydration is a simple food processing technique, preserving foods by removing enough moisture to prevent growth of organisms like yeasts, moulds and bacteria. Dehydration removes water, concentrating your foods natural flavour, sweetness and aroma.

Unlike canning or freezing, Excalibur dehydration is quick and easy. There’s no hot water, no extensive preparation. Just prepare and dry. Dried food takes little space, needs no electricity to store, and lasts for much longer than non-dried food.

Drying is

Easy.

A wide variety of fresh foods can be dried, including: fruits, vegetables, herbs, seeds, cheese, fish and meats, as well as yoghurt. These foods can be eaten dried, or reconstituted for cooking and baking. Drying is easier than canning or freezing: you simply wash, slice and load food onto the dehydrator trays. Within hours your foods are dried and ready to eat or store.

Drying is

Economical.

Owning an Excalibur dehydrator allows you to purchase and dry foods in peak seasons when prices are lowest and certain foods are readily available – a great saving compared to the high cost of commercial dried products. Operating a dehydrator costs very little in the way of power consumption and dried foods don’t require continual electricity to be maintained as with freezing.

Drying is

Healthy.

As food dries, natural food flavours and sugars tend to concentrate – giving dried foods a sweeter and stronger burst of flavour than fresh foods. Dried foods are nutritious, too! Drying preserves important nutrients that cooking often destroys. And since you don’t add sugar or other additives, dried foods make delicious and healthy snacks, without any artificial chemicals and preservatives.

Drying is

Space Saving.

Dried foods take up less space than canned or frozen foods because when you remove the moisture, food shrinks in size. They store in any convenient airtight container or pack, are lightweight and sustainable – just right for lunch boxes, backpacks or camping trips.
